cinco de mayo gift ideas

So, it's Cinco De Mayo. And lucky for you, you now have your first Mexican friend. Woohoo! What're you gonna get Pablo?

Oh, I know what. NOTHING. Don't give them anything, because they probably don't celebrate it. Its not actually a holiday in Mexico.

Instead, give them something they deserve: respect.

As a veteran restaurant employee in three different states, I have worked with more Mexicans than I can count. And each and every one has been, undoubtedly, the hardest working employees I have ever worked with.

Many Mexicans live and work in America and send their earnings back home to Mexico. Usually, the ones here have come specifically to make the money needed for their family at home. One Mexican immigrant I worked with was named Domingo. He came here from Mexico to open a restaurant. He worked almost 6 days a week - sometimes with 14 hour days - every week for 7 years. He missed years of his son's life. But now, he's back in Mexico vacationing and reaping the rewards of his labor.

But don't worry. Domingo will be back in a few months.

Other than Domingo, there's Emerson, Marbel, Walter, Luis. And that's just at this job.

So, in short - this Cinco De Mayo...give your Mexican friends respect. After all, studies show that they are the most hard-working people group in the world.

But if you realllly want to give them something....send them flowers from Fallon's Flowers. Locally sourced, family-own, same-day delivery florist. Your friend is sure to love them.
